
(Investing.com)Australia stocks were higher after the close on Tuesday, as gains in the Energy, Information Technology, and Financials sectors led shares higher.
At the close in Sydney, the S&P/ASX 200 added 1.26% to hit a new six-months high.
The best performers of the session on the S&P/ASX 200 were Beach Energy Limited (Ltd), which rose 8.16% or 0.140 points to trade at 1.855 at the close.
Meanwhile, Unibail Rodamco Westfield added 7.33% or 0.33 points to end at 4.83 and Whitehaven Coal Ltd was up 6.87% or 0.090 points to 1.400 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Silver Lake Resources Ltd which fell 9.41% or 0.175 points to trade at 1.685 at the close. Saracen Mineral Holdings Ltd declined 9.02% or 0.47 points to end at 4.74 and Northern Star Resources Ltd was down 8.88% or 1.240 points to 12.720.
