Dell Technologies Inc. (NYSE) has announced a partnership with NVIDIA Corporation (NASDAQ) to develop an AI Factory to enhance Grok, an AI model created by Elon Musk's company, xAI. Grok, a generative AI chatbot, was developed in response to the success of ChatGPT by OpenAI, which Musk co-founded. It processes a wide range of visual and text information. The first version, Grok-1.5V, was released in April, noted for its superior real-world spatial understanding.
Dell is contributing half of the hardware for xAI's new supercomputer, a project also involving Super Micro Computer Inc. (NASDAQ) and Oracle (NYSE). Super Micro, known for its cutting-edge liquid-cooling technology, confirmed its partnership. The supercomputer, termed the "Gigafactory of Compute," will feature up to 100,000 Nvidia H100 GPUs and is set to be operational by fall 2025. This massive infrastructure aims to surpass existing GPU clusters in size and capability, positioning Grok to outperform its competitors.
