Gold has repeatedly attempted to break through the 4000 - 4020 level but failed. As long as it stays above 3980 - 3950 I believe it will continue to rise and break through 4030 to reach even higher levels.
On the other hand, only a breakthrough of the resistance will facilitate a rise toward 4068-60
