XAU/USD Outlook: Gold Consolidates Below Key Resistance as Traders Watch for the Next Breakout
Gold (XAU/USD) is currently trading near 4033, just below the important 4040–4045 resistance zone after facing a sharp rejection from its recent rally. Price action continues to remain within a broader descending trendline, indicating that sellers are still defending higher levels. At present, the market is consolidating near support, and the next breakout from this range is expected to determine the short-term direction.
Bullish Scenario
If XAU/USD manages to hold above the 4027–4030 support zone and successfully breaks above 4045, buying momentum could strengthen, with the next upside targets at 4055, followed by 4070. A sustained move above 4070 may attract fresh buying interest and open the way toward the descending trendline resistance around 4090–4100.
Bearish Scenario
On the downside, if Gold fails to reclaim the 4040–4045 resistance zone and falls below 4028, selling pressure may increase. The first downside target is 4000, and a break below this level could extend the decline toward 3969, which represents the next major support level on the chart.
Key Price Levels
Resistance: 4040 → 4045 → 4060 → 4070 → 4085
Support: 4028 → 4000 → 3969
Overall Market View
Gold remains in a short-term bearish structure as long as it continues trading below the descending trendline and the 4045 resistance zone. Although buyers are attempting to defend the 4028–4030 support area, a decisive breakout above 4045 is required to confirm renewed strength. Until then, the market is likely to remain volatile with a slight bearish bias.
